Hernando County deputies are warning citizens not to leave anything valuable in their cars.

Deputies are investigating a rash of vehicle burglaries that occurred during the daytime hours on Sunday, August 17.

The burglaries occurred to locked vehicles located in the parking areas at Jenkins Creek, the Hernando Beach Boat Ramp, and the Weeki Wachee Preserve (Osowaw entrance).

Six vehicles were broken into at Jenkins Creek, three at the Hernando Beach Boat Ramp, and two at the Weeki Wachee Preserve.

Items targeted inside of the locked vehicles included a handgun, radio, DVD player, bank bag, ladies purses, GPS, wallets, cell phones, and other miscellaneous items.
