A 6th grade student at Monroe Middle School has been charged with possession of a gun on school property, a felony.
Police said when the 13 year old was walking to school Thursday morning, he said he saw a handle sticking out of a white sock. He picked it up and discovered it was a gun.
Police said he brought the gun to school and showed it to friends. A student heard about it and notified a teacher, the teacher notified the administration and the school resource officer.
The school resource officer searched the student's backpack and found the revolver.
