The Village of the Arts in Bradenton is working on plans to expand.

Officials not only want the arts district to take up a larger area, but the village also wants to add street lights and make other improvements aimed at making visitors feel safe, our partners at the Bradenton Herald report.

The Public Works Department took a look at the area and thinks at least 100 more lights are needed.

The problem is that the lights will cost at least $400,000.

The city said it is on board with the plan, but wants people to know it could take several years to get that project done.
