A Bay area mechanic is starring in a new show featured on the Discovery Channel.

Slick, a classic car enthusiast and owner of Slicks Garage in Palmetto, works to preserve drivable pieces of history. The cars he has worked on date back to the late 1800s.

“We take classic cars and we put them back on the road in their former glory,” said Slick.

Slick's passion and talent has landed him his own show, "Highway To Sell." People nationwide will be able to see him at work.

“I honestly think I was supposed to do this," he said. "Not just classic cars, but the show.”

In the show Slick, along with automotive expert Dennis Pittsenbarger, buy classic cars that need to be restored.

“It’s going to put Palmetto on the map, it will put Florida on the map," said Slick. "I mean there are really not a lot of car shows about Florida.”

On the show, once the car is restored it gets placed in an auction. The former owner can either buy it back at an escalated price or get some cash.

“This way the owner has an opportunity to buy his baby back ... in all its glory," said Slick. "Or sell it and make a couple bucks or more than if he would have sold it as is.”

The first episode of “Highway To Sell,” will air at 10 p.m. on September 1. Slick is hosting a party at the Riverhouse Reef & Grill in Palmetto to watch the pilot episode. The party is open to the public.
