Cristobal remains a Category 1 hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean.

Hurricane Cristobal is located about 300 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, and is moving north at 12 mph. The storm is expected to pass Bermuda well to the northwest Wednesday.

A turn toward the north-northeast and northeast, with a gradual increase in forward speed, is expected over the next 48 hours.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 80 mph, with higher gusts. Some strengthening is possible during the next day or so. The storm is forecast to become a powerful extratropical cyclone over the north Atlantic Ocean by late Friday.

Cristobal has a large wind field. Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 60 miles from the center, and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 205 miles.

Cristobal is expected to produce additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches over Bermuda.

A Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect for Bermuda.
