The Supervisor of Elections Office in Hernando County turned to social media to get the results out during Tuesday night’s primary after experiencing issues with the website.

Elections Supervisor Shirley Anderson said workers kept uploading results but residents couldn't see them. Anderson said it was a software problem and until Election Day all the testing had gone fine.

So Anderson turned to social media. For three hours she used Facebook to post results.

According to the software company, VR Systems Inc., Hernando County was one of 55 counties with problems. The company said it was because everybody got online right at 7 p.m. when the polls closed.

VR Systems is now working on different ways to handle high traffic during election days. This is the first time the software had such problems.
