The heat may not be going anywhere but some showers are returning to parts of the Bay area today.

According to Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez, rain chances will increase and may bring thunderstorms later in the day.

"There are showers and thunderstorms in South Florida moving northward," Marquez said. "The best rain chances today are in the southern parts of the Bay area. Most of the northern counties will stay dry."

Rain chances Thursday are 30 percent.

The heat, however, will cover the entire area. High temperatures this afternoon are expected to approach the mid 90s.

Rain chances will jump to 60 percent by Friday.

"The moisture will surge into our area by tomorrow," Marquez said.
