When you have a school that looks cool on the outside, it’s kind of hard not to have big expectations inside.

Florida Poly doesn’t disappoint.

“Our idea was to create six innovation labs that make the technology different from other universities in the SE United States and quite frankly, the world,” said FL Poly VP, Tom Hull.

Six labs with some technology so impressive, it’s almost impossible to walk past the glass windows and not stop and stare.

The 3-D printing lab alone is a big draw for students. It’s the largest Makerbot brand 3-D printing lab in the country.

And the excitement students are showing is exactly what Florida Poly Vice President, Tom Hull said they had in mind when they built these labs.

“Students see this and they think electrical engineering, computer engineering and they think design, industrial design. They love to see something that they’ve created in software actually be rendered in a physical device,” Hull said.

So, just how are objects like these made from 3-D printers like this going to take students to the next level? Well school leaders say it’s exactly the type of skill and technology big tech companies are looking for. Especially with students having access to things like the super computer.

“Our students are gonna have the capability to use very high speed, high capacity computing with the help of the super computer,” Hull said.

Florida Poly isn’t stopping there. Their library is also based on technology. It’s all digital so there are no books! Students are just encouraged to B-Y-O-D meaning bring your own device.
