An Army major accused of killing his wife's ex-husband has been released on $1.5 million bail.

Roman Izzo, 36, was arrested in 2013 for the killing of Vincent Lee in Clearwater. Lee was Izzo's wife's ex-husband. Investigators believe the killing stemmed from a custody dispute.

Izzo was released on bond Thursday night, which the Tampa Bay Times reports as a rare case of a first-degree murder defendant being freed before trial.

Izzo will be required to return to court on Oct. 13 for a pretrial hearing.
