The Crystal River City Council has approved letting the Riverwalk project proceed to the next step.

According to the Citrus County Chronicle, the council agreed on the next stages of the project after Carol Kimbrough of the Crystal River Area Council presented a letter signed by property owners giving their consent for the project.

The CRA re-introduced the Riverwalk vision in 2008 as a way of connecting the King’s Bay waterfront to the rest of downtown.

The project would likely involve the construction of a walkway from a new parking lot off NW First Avenue to the seawalls of Charlie’s Fish House, Dockside Ice Cream, Bayview Apartments, Cracker’s Bar and Grill and ending at the Best Western Hotel.

City officials will discuss the construction requirements stipulated by the affected property owners during the CRA meeting on Monday, Sept. 22, and will motion to schedule possible workshops to review the project at a later date.
