Pasco County deputies arrested a former teacher accused of using a 3-year-old to help her steal from Walmart.

Deputies said Amanda Jo Hammon, of Zephyrhills, hid more than $1,700 worth of electronics in the child's backpack.

Court documents state she was going to use the stolen electronics to pay for her drug habit.

Hammon was a teacher at Doctor John Long Middle School in Wesley Chapel.

She resigned on Wednesday in the middle of an investigation that's not related to her recent arrest.
