Authorities are looking for a man they say impersonated a police officer and asked a Bradenton woman to get into his car Sunday night.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, the victim was driving in the 500 block of 53rd Avenue W around 10:45 p.m. when she was pulled over by a vehicle with green and red flashing lights.

She told deputies the suspect approached her vehicle not wearing an identifiable uniform. And instead of requesting her driver's license and other documents, he asked her to get out of her vehicle and get into his car.

The woman refused, prompting the suspect to say he was going to call a female officer. But once he got back into his car, the man fled the scene at a high rate of speed, and the woman called 911.

Investigators say the suspect, described only as a a tall, clean-shaven white male wearing a black T-shirt, may have been driving a tan or gold Ford Crown Victoria. He may have had a badge, they say.
