The Tampa day care center that was closed Friday after a car crashed into the building is back in business today.

The Achievement Center For Early Learning at 4609 East Busch Boulevard reopened today. The large front window that was smashed in the crash is covered with plywood, but the center has been cleaned up enough to accept children.

According to Tampa police, a car was in the westbound lanes of Busch Boulevard near north 46th Street at 3:30 a.m. Friday when the driver lost control, hit a concrete median, skidded across the street and crashed into the building.

Police said Haley A. Burgess, 20, of Tampa, was driving the 2009 Toyota Camry that crashed into the building and flipped over. Candy Lynn Turner, 31, of Brandon was the passenger in the car. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The cleanup of the day care took place throughout the holiday weekend.

"It was a long weekend - a long, stressful weekend," said Vincent Hernandez, the center's owner. "But we will be able to accommodate everybody today."

Meanwhile, the crash remains under investigation. Police spokesperson Andrea Davis said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash and authorities area awaiting toxicology results.
