An east wind kept our sea breeze pinned near our side of the state again Tuesday.

"That has resulted in scattered storms forming from I-75 westward toward the coastal areas. Once they formed they all had a westward movement toward the Gulf," said Bay News 9 meteorologist Brian McClure. "This will be the case again Wednesday."

Pinellas County saw heavy thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon, receiving an inch to an inch and a half of rain. Duke Energy reported about 1,500 customers without power around 5 p.m.

The morning and first half of Wednesday will be quiet with mostly sunny skies and hot temperatures. Then the afternoon/evening storms will fire up and move westward.

The highest rain chances will be at the end of the week.
