Five finalists have been selected for the St. Pete Beach city manager position.

And the public can meet the finalists before a candidate will be selected for the job.

A meet and greet with the finalists is scheduled for Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Community Center's Boca Ciega room.

According to partner newspaper the Tampa Bay Times, the finalists are:

  • Bret A. Bauer, currently city manager of Holton, Kan., which is near Topeka.
  • Robert "Bob" Kellogg, who was town manager of Sewalls Point, near Stuart, for seven years.
  • Patrick "Pat" G. Salerno, city manager of Coral Gables for five years before he resigned earlier this year.
  • David "Wayne" Saunders, former finance director for Port Orange after serving 27 years as city manager of Clermont.
  • E. Ann Toney-Deal, city manager of Haines City for 19 years until she resigned in 2011.

On October 9, St. Pete Beach Mayor Maria Lowe and the city commissioners will conduct private one-on-one interviews with the candidates.

A final decision is expected by Oct. 14.

The former city manager, Mike Bonfield was forced to resign in April.
