Rubonia is canceling its 36th annual Mardi Gras Parade because of financial difficulties, the Bradenton Herald reported.
The parade usually take place in the north Manatee County hamlet of Rubonia. Organizers agreed to skip 2015 and try again next year, the parade's organizer told the Herald.
Organizers say the cost of putting on the parade, which typically draws a diverse crowd from all over the county, is too much and that not enough people or groups are contributing.
Last year's parade drew a crowd of about 15,000. In some years, as many as 30,000 people attended.
