A cat in Tampa has become world-famous after officials say the feline clawed his way out of a grave five days after he was accidentally buried alive

Bart was badly injured after he hit by a car. His heartbroken owner thought he was dead, and so he buried the cat.

Five days later, Bart showed up in a neighbor's yard.

Bart's owner took him to the Animal Health Center at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, where he will undergo surgery to repair his broken jaw and remove his damaged eye.

“I have never seen anything or heard of anything like this before.”, said Dr. Justin Boorstien, who performed the surgeries.

When asked if he thinks cats have 9 lives, Dr. Boorstien said, “I think he may have a couple less than 9 now.”

Bart could be returned to his owner within a week.
