A driver has been charged with DUI after crashing into a Tampa restaurant.
The crash occurred at the Independent Restaurant located at 5016 N. Florida Ave. at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday.
According to police, the driver of a 1994 Honda Accord lost control of the vehicle and drove into the exterior patio of the restaurant.
One restaurant patron, 34-year-old Wesley Dustin Kincaid, was struck by the car. He was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said the driver, identified as 29-year-old Sully Marie Torre-Medina, then attempted to flee the scene in the vehicle but was detained by other restaurant patrons.
Torre-Medina was arrested for DUI with injuries and transported to jail. Police said her BAC was measured at 0.16, which is twice the legal limit.
