The St. Petersburg Police Department is hosting a community forum to discuss race relations.

Those who attend the forum will have the opportunity to take part in roundtable discussions with police facilitators.

Officials said the aim of the forum is to foster a meaningful dialogue in an effort to improve trust between the police and the city's residents.

Last month, Chief Anthony Holloway held an initial meeting with a smaller group of African-American community leaders to listen to their concerns and to also establish the agenda for the public forums.

Those concerns included perceptions of racial profiling, the need for diversity in recruitment and officer training for dealing with diverse populations.

Officials said Holloway has addressed some of those concerns with new policy changes and initiatives. Those will be presented at the forum as well.

The forum will be held Tuesday at 6-7:30 p.m. at Gibbs High School cafeteria. Gibbs High School is located at 850 34th St. S.
