Tampa police believe one man is responsible for two random stabbings along N Armenia Avenue in recent weeks.

Both attacks happened in the 4700 block of Armenia near Osborne Avenue. The first attack occurred Dec. 27 and the second last week. Both were at night, between 8:30 and 9:30.

Police say a woman was waiting for a bus last week when a man approached her asking about the bus. When she turned away, he stabbed her in the neck, seriously injuring her.

With the first attack, a woman was walking along Armenia when the suspect approached her from behind and stabbed her in the chest. She received serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Police said the man was wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans.

Last week's attack has investigators concerned more violence may occur.

"We've been doing some operations trying to find this suspect," police spokesperson Andrea Davis said. "But we are now reaching out to the public. We want the public's help. We want people to contact us if something doesn't look right or they see someone matching this description."

Because the descriptions of the suspects are similar, police believe they're looking for the same man. They describe him as white or Hispanic, 20 to 30 years old, 5 foot 7 and 120 pounds and having dark, curly hair. They believe he lives in the area.

Authorities are cautioning residents in the area to be extra cautious and report any suspicious activity.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at Crime Stoppers 1-800-873-8477.
