Mudslinging, animal sacrifice and drinking a goat’s blood? It’s the latest in politics and one you have to hear and see to believe.

Adrian Wyllie used to be the chairman for Florida’s Libertarian Party. He even ran for governor last year. But he recently threw in the towel. He resigned after he says new Libertarian senate candidate Augustus Sol Invictus took things a little too far.

“Apparently he did this ritualistic sacrifice of a goat and drank the blood of the goat to give thanks to the gods,” said Wyllie. “That’s just recently come out. But I had heard from several sources that he was kicked out of his Pagan religious order because of the violent and sadistic order in which he ritualistically sacrificed a goat.”

Invictus doesn’t deny the allegations and admits he did sacrifice a goat and drink its blood after surviving a trip to the desert. But he wants to make it clear he didn’t dismember it.

“That is a half-truth. I am a Pagan. I practice animal sacrifice but the criticisms against me made by Wyllie are a deliberate misrepresentation of what has happened,” Invictus said.

The 32-year-old attorney says he stands by his beliefs and thinks this newfound fame won’t hurt him at the polls.

“Being a Pagan does not help you with the American electorate but controversy does help you as a candidate,” Invictus said.

It’s the exact opposite of what Wyllie is hoping for.

“This is not what we stand for. This is not what we believe in. The Libertarian Party is about protecting the rights of the individual. It’s not about starting a war, it’s not about eugenics and it’s not about butchering animals,” Wyllie said

Invictus denies any claims of him wanting to start a civil war. He says if elected, he wants to end the drug war, and tackle foreign policy. So far, he is the only Libertarian candidate running for the Senate seat in Florida.
