Hurricane Joaquin is maintaining hurricane intensity over the high latitudes of the North Atlantic.

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.

Some weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours. Joaquin is expected to lose tropical characteristics by tomorrow evening, and to become a large extratropical cyclone by Thursday.

Swells generated by Joaquin will continue to affect Bermuda and portions of the Bahamas during the next day or so.

Swells are affecting the east coasts of the United States and Canada. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
