Manatee County authorities are searching for a man that robbed an elderly couple at gunpoint Sunday in Palmetto.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, a man in a car approached an 87-year-old woman who was pulling weeds in her front yard in the Piney Point Mobile Home Park on 30th Avenue East.
He asked if she needed yard work done and when she said no he drove off. He circled around the block, stopped again and then asked her for money, officials said.
When she said no, he asked if her husband was home.
The woman was standing in the carport area when the man pushed her into the house, according to the sheriff's office. The man took cash from inside the home and then left, officials said. The woman's husband, who is 90, was in the home at the time.
The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-30s with short hair and clean-shaven. He was last seen wearing a blue or green T-shirt and dark pants.
Officials said he was driving a beige sedan, possibly a Ford.
