Lealman fire rescue paramedics said they delivered a baby in an apartment hallway early Tuesday morning.

"I’m very humbled," said paramedic Ryan Bickley, 30. "It’s not something that we get to see every day."

Bickley said he and paramedic Nick Kranik responded to a 911 call from 4258 Tyler Circle North at about 1:13 a.m. The paramedics could hear the pregnant woman screaming when they arrived at the apartment.

"We arrived and we could hear her from outside. So, we knew the call was pretty serious at that point," Bickley said. "When we went inside, we had found her in the hallway in active labor. The child was crowning. We could visually see that and then we decided to make the delivery there."

Bickley said there was another woman inside the home at the time who helped them deliver the baby boy.

"I’ve had a few deliveries in the past. This was the first one in a home that I’ve had the full delivery process," he said. "I just thank God that He gave us the opportunity and the knowledge to work as a team and get her and her baby to the hospital safely."

The mother and baby are doing well and are recovering at Bayfront Baby Place, according to Bickley. Bay News 9 was not able to reach the mother or learn her identity due to medical privacy laws.

"It was a good time right before Thanksgiving," said Bickley. "Something to kind of give extra thanks for."
