Tampa Electric is working to restore power to some customers in the area of University of South Florida in Tampa.
Almost 6,000 customers near I-275 and Fowler Avenue reported outages around 5 p.m. Since then, almost half have been restored.
TECO did not give a reason for the power outage. The company expects to have the rest of the power back up sometime this evening.
