Fire broke out in a chemistry lab in Mitchell High School in Trinity Wednesday night.

Firefighters responded to the call, which came in at 7:28 p.m. When they arrived, they found the fire in the science and technology building on the school's campus, which is located at 2323 Little Road.

Crews had the fire knocked down about 15 minutes after they arrived. Officials said the fire was contained to a chemistry lab, but smoke did get into about a dozen classrooms. Those rooms will be aired out overnight.

Classes are expected to be in session Thursday, but school officials say it will be a "modified campus." They say they'll have to find other rooms for some classes to meet.

Officials don't have a damage estimate yet, but they say that since the fire happened at night, students weren't in the classroom and no one has been hurt.

The State Fire Marshal has been called to investigate.
