Detectives last week arrested a man they say was driving around with four baggies of meth, dozens of narcotic pills, a gun and more than $2,000 in cash - all while his 8-month-old son was strapped into a seat next to him.

Alfred Joseph Grabowski II, 33, seemed nervous and was "sweating profusely" when vice and narcotics detectives pulled over his Ford F-150 truck at Cortez Boulevard and Don Jr. Avenue last Thursday, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office said.

When Grabowski repeatedly opened his center console and glove box to look for his vehicle registration, a detective noticed a glass pipe, according to the arrest report.

Detectives ordered Grabowski out of the truck and saw a black Glock 23 gun in the side of the driver's door, the sheriff's office said. A K-9 team was called to the scene, and detectives say the found four clear baggies of methamphetamines, 116 1/2 hydromorphone pills, 13 oxymorphone pills, 16 alprazolam pills, two digital scales and a glass pipe.

All of the pills were packaged for distribution, detectives said.

Detectives then removed $2,142 from Grabowski's rear pocket, which Grabowski claimed had come from the collection of some debts, according to the report.

Grabowski was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, trafficking in hydromorphone, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, sale of a controlled substance and possession of a structure for the purpose of manufacturing a controlled substance.

The 8-month-old baby's mother came to the scene of the traffic stop and took custody of the child.
