We're always hearing how getting too little sleep is bad for us. Now, some health experts are saying too much sleep isn't good, either.

A new study out of the University of Cambridge found that people who sleep more than eight hours a day have an increased risk of stroke.

The study followed 10,000 people for more than a decade. Researchers report that 300 of them had a stroke.

The study found that those who reported getting lots of sleep had double the risk of those getting six to eight hours a night.

Researchers said it's unclear why there is a link between sleep and stroke risks.

But they said the association between longer sleep and a higher risk of stroke was independent of normal risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

Diabetes screening at the dentist's office?

Screening for diabetes could be as easy heading for a dental cleaning.

A new study published in the American Journal of Public Health shows dentists could use the flood from your mouth to test for diabetes.

Researchers found that results were about the same as ones they received using blood from a finger stick.

It's estimated that 8 million of 29 million Americans living with diabetes are undiagnosed. and each year, many Americans visit a dental provider, but not a primary care provider.

Eye color may be linked to pain tolerance

Preliminary research shows eye color may be able to help health care providers predict how well a patient can handle pain.

For example, the research showed that women with light colored eyes tolerated pain better during childbirth and had less postpartum depression and anxiety, while women with darker colored eyes had a higher sensitivity to pain.

Experts advise against drawing definitive conclusions from the research. Further studies are needed.
