Three Florida men are facing federal charges of trafficking in methamphetamines.

A federal grand jury returned indictments against Shawn Paul Hendricks, 41, of Dade City; Vladimir Castaneda, 26 of Eustis; and Jose Edgar Gonzalez-Castaneda, 45, of Eustis.

The men are facing charges of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.

According to court documents, law enforcement knew Hendricks was a large-scale methamphetamine dealer, and he was arrested in Dade City on Feb. 18 for fleeing and eluding law enforcement after an attempted traffic stop.

Agents said they seized marijuana, a gun and nearly $50,000 from the Dade City house where Hendricks lived with his girlfriend.

Investigators said Hendricks admitted to receiving 10 to 15 pounds of methamphetamine a week over the past year from a supplier in Atlanta, and that he was set to receive another shipment the following night.

On Feb. 19, with Hendricks' cooperation, agents arrested Castaneda and Gonzalez-Castaneda in Eustis, after they had delivered nearly nine pounds of meth to Hendricks, investigators said.

Gonzales-Castaneda admitted that he and Castaneda had picked up the meth in Atlanta earlier that morning, officials said.

If the men are convicted, they each face a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years to life in federal prison.
