An elderly Hernando County woman is getting some much needed help with her home.

The Spring Hill home is in poor condition and residents like Corinne Foti are cleaning it up for a total stranger.

"I could be doing a lot of different things, but this is where I need to be," said Foti.

Elizabeth Wissel, 80, is the homeowner and she has been having a hard time lately keeping up with all the cleaning. Her house got out of control.

Karen Dennehy found out Elizabeth didn't have any food because she kept walking to Karen's tea room for a hot meal. Then Karen saw the inside of the house and decided something had to be done.

"You can't walk into somebody's home and see them in need and not help," Dennehy said.

Karen put out the word and now the community has stepped up. The home is getting cleaned out and then the plan is to fix it up so Elizabeth can move back in.

"She is overwhelmed," Dennehy said. "She is very, very grateful."

Several local businesses have donated their time and services, but Dennehy says they need more help. Elizabeth is staying with family until her house is ready.
