Hillsborough County Schools are looking for a few good bus drivers and the district is holding one-stop job fairs to find them.

Monday, Hillsborough County School's Transportation Department set up a one-stop job fair at CareerSource Tampa Bay.

More than 100 people filled out applications and took part in on-the-spot interviews. Some applicants were even hired at the fair, as long as they passed their training and driving tests later.

"If I get it, I'm going to run with it," said applicant Cody Lundon. "I can't wait."

The one-stop job fair is a new strategy to fill Hillsborough School's bus driver shortage.

"This hundred that we get through today, hopefully we will get 50 percent or more who will stick with the program," said Hillsborough County School's Transportation Manager Jim Beekman.

The first one-stop job fair was held in January.

The Hillsborough School Transportation Manager said it has already reduced the time it takes to get new bus drivers on the road by about 6 weeks.

The bus driver position pays $12.21 an hour plus benefits.

Another one-stop job fair for bus drivers is expected to be held in June. A location has not been determined.
