A 15-year-old Hillsborough High School student was arrested Monday after officials say a gun was found in his backpack.
According to deputies, a teacher overheard the student talking about a gun in class. The teacher notified the principal. The principal notified the school resource officer and the school security officer.
Police said the SRO and the school security officer pulled the student out of class, searched his bag and found the gun.
No one was injured and the student made no threats, police said.
The student is charged with possession of a firearm on school property and minor in possession of a firearm.
