Books? Libraries, of course, offer much more than that.

Take the Hernando County Public Library, which has joined Library Ideas network to provide free access to more than 3 million songs, including Sony Music's catalog of legendary artists.

The Freegal Music Service will allow the library to increase the size and diversity of its collection by offering access to more than 10,000 music labels from 65 counties. Registered library card holders can download three Freegal Music tracks at no cost via https://hcpl.freegalmusic.com.

Freegal also has free mobile apps that are available in the Apple App Store and Google Play.

“We have been waiting a long time for a service like this that delivers great music, compatibility with lots of devices and simplicity of use," collection development coordinator Lauren Rouhana said. "We think this will be incredibly popular with our patrons and will help the library in marketing all its services to the community.”
