At approximately 8 a.m., on Wednesday, Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Garden Grove Elementary School after a report of a school clinic worker having a weapon on school property.
The worker, 59-year-old Marvin Sizemore of Lake Wales, an LPN, was at the school as a substitute nurse for the clinic at the time of the incident.
Through the investigation, deputies learned two witnesses, Garden Grove teachers, first reported to the school’s administrator they had observed a bulge under Sizemore’s left pant leg that appeared to be an ankle holster.
After speaking to Sizemore and advising him he was not to have a weapon on school property, the administrator contacted deputies.
Deputies responded and during the investigation, located two firearms in Sizemore’s vehicle.
Sizemore was charged with possession of a firearm on school property and transported to the Polk County Jail without incident.
