A Manatee County deputy is being honored for something he did while off-duty.
Deputy Salvatore Magro has been awarded Deputy of the Month for April 2015.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, while on a Caribbean cruise vacation last month, Magro witnessed an elderly man have a heart attack and go down on the ship deck.
He quickly responded and started CPR with the assistance of two firefighters. By the time medical personnel and the ship’s doctor arrived, the man was revived.
