A decision has been made about the start date for the upcoming school year in Manatee County.
On Tuesday night, Manatee County School Board members voted to keep the original proposed start date of August 24.
A few weeks ago, the district announed they were considering starting two weeks earlier, on August 10.
Since then, school board members said they were flooded with phone calls and e-mails, upset about the possible change.
Many families had vacations planned and said the sudden change would cause them to lose money or make their children miss school.
School board members said they've never received so many e-mails about an issue before.
