A cancer diagnosis within weeks of her grandfather’s death wasn’t something Everyday Hero Madison Miller was expecting.

“In the middle of all his treatments, all of his chemo, I ended up going to the hospital with chest pains,” Madison said. “They did a scan and it came back and there was a huge tumor in my chest.”

At just 20-years-old, the lymphoma diagnosis was unbelievable for Madison. She went through months of chemotherapy and radiation. Last year, her cancer went into remission and Madison found a new mission.

“To celebrate a year in remission we launched an organization for other young adults affected by cancer. We exist to bring light to young people adults affected by the darkness of cancer,” Madison said.

The organization is called Spark The Way, and its motto is “Igniting the light, uniting to fight.” The main person is a support group for other young people facing their own battle with cancer.

“We come alongside these young adults and we fight their battles with them. We go in at the fear with them. We go in and attack the insecurity with them,” Madison said.

Madison is now busy speaking to groups and raising funds for the non-profit. One day, Madison hopes her organization will be there to stand side-by-side with those in need around the world.

“Knowing that I can be a light in their darkness is massive for me. That’s what I live for,” Madison said.
