Thanks to a national organization, a local veteran and his family now have a new home.

When Army Sgt. Pablo Rosario and his family walked through the door of their new Brooksville home for the first time, it was nothing but smiles.

"Finally a place to call home," Rosario said.

The renovated house is now home sweet home, mortgage free, and it's all paid for in part by a national organization called Building Homes for Heroes.

The family has been dreaming of owning their own place for years.

"Right now I'm super happy," Rosario said.

"Today my dream comes true because I have a house, my family and we are stable," said Rosario's wife, Kathy.

Rosario was in the Army for about six years and spent time in the Middle East. He ended up with a brain injury and other lasting injuries, plus he has post-traumatic stress disorder.

For the past five years he and his family have been moving a lot, but now he has a place for his son to put down some roots.

"It is important because I want him to be stable, have friends, be able to have a place to call home," Rosario said.

Rosario has a message for all the people who made it happen.

"I love you guys and me and my family are always going to be there for you guys," he said. "Thank you very much."

By the end of the year Building Homes for Heroes will have given 25 homes to veterans here in Florida and as many as 40 homes nationwide.
