Tyler Moore isn't your average pastor.

He's also not your average Lightning fan, but the scruffy 29-year-old is fanatically passionate about both God and hockey.

"I pray before each game for each player," Moore said.

As the pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Largo, he's found a way to marry his two passions using his church marquee.

After each Lightning playoff win, Moore changes the church's sign. The goal is incorporate the Lord and hockey into one good-hearted message.

"My first sign, after much deliberation, was 'Jesus Saves, Stamkos Scores. Go Bolts,'" he said.

The unorthodox idea came to Moore during last year's playoffs, but it coincided with Easter weekend, and he didn't want to make light on the important holiday.

This year he decided to take the plunge.

His signs like, "Angels don't have Red Wings," and "Learn from Adam and Eve, Say no to the Big Apple," earned him praise and many new fans online.

"I figured it would end there, but it went viral," said Moore.

He's earned the nickname, "The hockey pastor," but his biggest accomplishment has been bringing in new parishioners.

As for current members of the church who weren't hockey fans? They're converts, too.

"I work Lightning references into my services," said Moore. "They've been having to watch the games a little more, so I'm creating more Lightning fans because they have to know what I'm talking about."

Would God be OK with this?

Moore likes to think the man upstairs would give a resounding, "Yes." And perhaps he'd be wearing a Lightning jersey, too.

"As Martin Luther said, 'If there's no laughter in heaven, I don't want to be there.' And to me, that's the whole message. We love to have fun and we're not taking ourselves too seriously," said Moore.
