Here's what you need to know about the weather this Memorial Day:

  • Another round of storms are expected in the late afternoon and early evening
  • Some of those storms will be heavy with gusty winds and brief flooding

According to Bay News 9 meteorologist Brian McClure, conditions are quiet in the early afternoon, but they expect another round of storms late this afternoon into the evening.

The weather for Monday is expected to be similar to that of Sunday, when scattered showers and thunderstorms developed late Sunday afternoon. A funnel cloud was spotted in Bradenton, and lightning struck a tree in west Bradenton.

Sunday's highest rainfall totals were seen in Plant City, which received between two and three inches of rain.

Those storms ended by around 8 p.m. Sunday.

Bay area rain chances will drop for the rest of the week.
