A St. Petersburg man was rescued from a burning home on Thursday evening.
According to reports, firefighters found a 55-year-old man in a wheelchair inside the home on Dover Street and were able to safely remove him from the home.
Neighbors say there was an explosion and then a fire.
"Fire was coming out of the windows," said one neighbor. "Well, Lloyd's paralyzed and he's the only one home. We were hollering, 'there's a man in there, there's a man in there,' and somehow they got him out."
The man was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
