Four astronauts will be inducted into the Astronaut Hall of Fame Saturday afternoon.

The four veteran shuttle astronauts will join 87 others in the hall. John Grunsfeld, Steve Lindsey, Kent Rominger and Rhea Seddon will be inducted during a special ceremony held under Space Shuttle Atlantis on Saturday afternoon.

They join the ranks of Neil Armstrong, Alan Shepard and John Glenn.

The Hall of Fame was conceived in the 1980s by the six remaining Mercury astronauts as a place where astronauts could be remembered.

Lindsey says he was the most surprised person on Earth when he found out he’d join the hall of fame.

"I think it’s important to preserve the history, to tell the story, to inspire next generations to come forward and take our place and do better than we did," he said.

This year’s inductees have done everything from repairing the Hubble Space Telescope, piloting and commanding missions to build the space station and breaking barriers by becoming one of NASA’s first female astronauts.

The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex just announced its moving the Hall of Fame up the road to be a part of the new Heroes and Legends attraction, opening in 2016.
