She's changing lives one person at a time - and without a lot of fanfare.

The gesture could be as simple as offering new clothes or sharing food with someone less fortunate.

The Tampa-based organization "Ethel's Heart" is doing all that and more.

"There is a need for helping people," said Katina Bryant, the founder and president of Ethel's Heart. "And I am a very helping person and I thought I needed to do something for those people that are in need."

The non-profit serves to bridge the gap of poverty between the homeless and low-income by collecting, soliciting, and packaging food along with personal care products for distribution throughout targeted areas and groups throughout the county.

In addition to food, cleaning products and personal items, the group also provides clothes at times.

If we visit a home and we can see that the kids (or parents) may need it, even though they did not ask about it, maybe during the next month when we deliver food, we'll drop off some clothes as well," said Ivery Bryant, Katina's husband.

So far, the recently started organization has been funded completely with the Bryants' own money. The Bryants say they will continue to help the less fortunate and are optimistic more people will assist them in the future.

And the name?

The organization is named after Katina's aunt Ethel, who she calls one of the most giving people she ever knew.

"The name is so fitting," Bryant said. "There was no other name."
