A Bay area teen battling cystic fibrosis gets to live out his dream.

Tyler Babcock, 17, joined a local police department as an officer for a day.

He's always wanted to protect and serve, and Thursday he got his wish, becoming an honorary police officer with the Sarasota Police Department.

He got to go on patrol, practice his marksman skills at a simulated firing range and even had a swearing in ceremony.

"I just hope it comes true and I actually become a police officer," says Tyler. "And I want to get a good education, and I'm just excited."

The "cop for a day" was made possible through the police department and the "I Am More Foundation."

"The whole purpose is to help children with diagnosis of disability or an illness, to be identified by their passion and not by their diagnosis," said foundation organizer Leslie Lybrinth.
