A Bradenton pastor was chosen to speak in front of Congress last week.

Randy Bezet of Sarasota-Manatee’s Bayside Community Church was recognized by Congressmen Vern Buchanan for his dedication to Manatee County.

If you were tuning in to Congress last Thursday, you may have recognized Pastor Randy Bezet of Sarasota-Manatee’s Bayside Community Church.

Congressmen Vern Buchanan asked the Bay area pastor to speak before Congress, an honor given to him because of the work he’s been doing in the community.

“We’re constantly going to our civil leaders like Vern Buchanan and others and asking them what are the needs in this community. And how can we as a church serve you and add value to this community,” said Bezet.

Pastor Bezet helps put on weekly community outreach programs to try and strengthen the area. Buchanan recognized that hard work and wrote this about the Manatee pastor.

"I applaud his work and his service, the pastor and his church, for what they do in southwest Florida."
Bezet said it was his honor to go before our countries leaders.

“To realize where I was going to be standing where presidents give the state of the union address and to be on the floor of congress, it kind of sunk in. And I thought wow.”

His prayer before Congress was about making the right decisions.

“My prayer was for them to lead with wisdom and that God would grant them wisdom to lead the notation,” Bezet said.

For Bayside church members like Josh Sommers seeing his spiritual leader in front of Congress was exciting.

“It was incredible to kind of see you know little Bradenton and someone who is coming out of there doing incredible things getting recognition,” said Sommers.

Bezet said speaking in front of Congress was one of the highlights of his career.
