Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch & Shorebird Monitoring are asking everyone to be cautious when visiting the stretch of beach between 30th Ave and 35th Avenue because of possibly unmarked turtle nests.

At around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night, someone drove onto the beach near 30th Avenue in Holmes Beach, killing two shorebird chicks, injuring one and drove over five sea turtle nests, possibly damaging eggs, according to Director Suzi Fox.

Residents and visitors are asked to contact the Holmes Beach Police at 941-708-5804 or the Bradenton Beach Police at 941-941-778-6411 with any information on the incident.
