A four hour standoff between a SWAT team and an armed distraught woman ended peacefully when the woman surrendered early Monday.

Concerned relatives of Patricia Harris, 59, called police after she phoned them and made suicidal statements.  A family friend went by the home on the 1800 block of Quincy Street S in south St. Petersburg and confirmed Harris was holding a gun.

When police arrived at the home shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday, an officer reported he heard two shots fired. A SWAT team was called up.

After four hours, a negotiator was able to talk Harris out of the house peacefully. Officers took her into custody under Florida's Baker Act at about 12:15 a.m.
