A sea of pet urine pads is just a snap shot of what was removed from a vacant Hudson home on Wednesday.
The owner of the home on Spring Avenue passed away months ago, leaving several cats behind that eventually died inside the home.
Cleaning crews returned for a third day, cracking doors and windows to air out the house.
Neighbors said the air outside was more potent than ever.
Rawle Jerry who lives a couple of doors down came by to see the house on the inside for the first time.
“This is ridiculous,” said Jerry.
Cleaning crews said they found at least four dead adult cats and one dead kitten all badly decomposed. They also say the trash bags piling up outside the home are filled with empty water jugs and pet urine pads that covered the kitchen area, majority of the living room and the bathroom.
But, neighbor Beverly Serio says the smell isn’t as bad as the reality behind it.
“How can anybody live like that? It was awful," said Serio. "I mean how you walk through the house.”
Aside from the amount of filth discovered inside the house, the garage wasn’t spared. It was filled with empty wooden cat cages with muddy litter boxes inside.
For Maria Martinez who lives right next door and is affected the most by the house's odor, she is glad to see this cleaning job is finally getting done.
“It makes me feel good that finally something is going to be done and I’m able to open my windows and breathe,” said Maria Martinez.
