If you raise a million dollars, I’ll give a million dollars.

It’s the offer an anonymous donor made to Florida Poly. Enrollment VP Scott Rhodes said the school is up for the challenge.

“It’s a matching challenge to the community that can help our students and their scholarships,” Rhodes said.

And speaking of scholarships, all the students at Florida Poly have one. So it’s free tuition. And for students like Karla Martinez it’s the reason she was able to go to college.

“The scholarship that Florida Polytechnic gave me really made me live up to my true potential,” Martinez said. “Starting my first year of college I really wanted to go to a university but my parents would not have been able to afford it without the scholarship.”

Rhodes said the (BePivotal)2 matching challenge encourages donors to double what they originally planned to give.

“Anyone, donors that have given to the university already and new donors can step forward and support our students,” he said.

And if potential donors are on the fence about giving, the students at the school said it’s would be money well spent.

“We are specialized in what we do and we really do focus on getting that job after college as opposed to studying the textbook and passing a test,” Florida Poly student, Riley Schill said.

Not to mention the donations also give the students an extra boost of confidence.

“It really just makes me feel like people believe in me and that’s just such an incredible gift,” Florida Poly student Makala Quinn said.

It’s a gift that university officials are hoping more people will give and help them reach that million-dollar match.
