A reward has been offered for information in the case of a woman who was shot dead in her Tampa home last weekend.

The body of Sharon Darnes Watkins, 58, was found in her home on Delaware Avenue early Saturday morning. Police said she was sleeping in her bed when someone fired into the house, killing her.

Watkins died from her injuries before she was found.

Law enforcement believes she was caught in the crossfire of a conflict between rival neighborhood groups.

Watkins is one of two people shot and killed in Tampa last weekend. Officials said this year, Tampa has already seen 21 homicides, nearly twice as many as the same time period last year.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay, which is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspects in the shooting.

To be eligible for a cash reward, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477), report anonymously online at www.crimestopperstb.com, text CSTB plus your tip to 274637 (CRIMES) or send a mobile tip using the TipSubmit Mobile application.
